Anova Culinary App Reviews

The app needs internet connection and doesnt come with pre loaded recipes. Because of this navigation is slow and boring. A "favorite" button could help a bit.

The App was advertised as a App to cook every food sous vide. For example it was promised that you Type in the kind of meat and the thickness and the way you want it to be done (rare, medium, done..). This feature is now implemented for beef! Yeah :)! Please add the same for poultry and pork! Then u will get your 5*****. One Problem is actually the pairing with the precison cooker. Sometimes the iphone does not find the cooker.

While the recipes are nice, the App has very poor functionality 1. It is not possible to change the units and the servings number in the setup so you have to recalculate everything yourself. 2. Just like the Anova WiFi app, this app, too, cannot establish a connection to the device. While the iPhone displays a connection, the Apps connection attempts fail. Thats a very poor user experience and one of the most prominent featured properties of the device (Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity) simply dont exist.

It is finally here!!!!

Been waiting for this app. Worked perfect and connected to my anova. All I had to do was turn the device on, hold the Bluetooth icon until it beeped, click the Bluetooth icon on the app and finally selected "SV Mini".

Still needs work, couldnt figure out how to use the timer, the Offset Calibration should come with a guide, and there should be a guide for cooking different foods not tied to specific recipes.

This app needs some serious updating. Cant set temperature or start the timer. Basically its a Bluetooth temp probe with no functionality. Update please!

It works but lacks the vital feature of Push Notification once your selected set-points are met. It also needs a "Silence" button in the app to mute/acknowledge the beeping of the physical unit.

Theres no way to turn off the "low water warning" even after closing the app. It annoyingly reminds you every 3 seconds that the water is low. Only way to stop it is to fully close the app by double tapping the home screen. Not well executed.

It worked, now with the update its crashing at the start.

There was no sound in videos I deleted the app and downloaded it again and the problem was solved. Still some issues with Bluetooth not keeping the temperature synchronized between the app and Anova

There are very few recipes and Ive experienced two bad things: -when the time expires the anova precision cooker should stop heating and pumping. This is not happening due to a bug -I cannot set a delayed start for a program. There are dishes that require more than 4 hours too cook: I need a way to start the program when Im not home.

Nice idea but super buggy (still). Often disconnects so timer stops, or reconnects and sets some random temperature. Currently the timer didnt even count down. Ive come to not rely on the app timer and just have to keep an eye on the temp reading.

After initially pairing this to my iPhone for a couple of months the device and app are failing to connect. Fortunately you can manually set the temperature and cook time, but this deprecates the purpose of this device. Look elsewhere for your sous vide needs.

I was worried about the Wi-Fi not working because of some the the reviews I read. But, I got my cooker delivered by Fe-Ex today, read the QuickStart guide and connected first try. Cooking within 30 minutes of arriving.

The hardwares grade. But only rely on the app at your own risk. Half the time the timer wont start. Most recently when the app lost connection, the temperature went from the preset 139° to 159°ruining my steak. But it was pretty good for shoe leather. It was compared to jerky, and appropriately.

Ive had mine for a week. The recipes are awesome and work very well. Connecting to the cooker is an issue. Connection will drop off and not reconnect on its own, while on the same network. Worries me to try to cook remotely at this point, which is a shame given the wifi feature. The app also doesnt refresh without closing out completely. My chicken has had 44 minutes left for the last half hour. The cooker itself rocks! 5 stars once everything works.

You need to be able to do more with this app, graph cooks, calibrate preheat times to predict when to start preheat, it shouldnt turn the unit off when it gets to temp, should just alarm......give me useful data about my cook!!!!!!!

Update: still essentially worthless. Lots of promises and zero delivery. Slick marketing gimmick to sell more sous vide circulators. This app is very late in arriving. Now that it has I am very disappointed. Its just a collection of recipes. It needs a way to select what you are putting in your sous vide as well as the size and thickness and then ask how well you want it cooked. You should then be presented with a calculated time and temp that is sent to the circulator. I didnt want a cookbook I wanted a functional control system for the circulator.

Sous vide is amazing and wonderful. The Anova precision cooker is great. The app is horrible. You will end up just setting a temperature on the cooker and a timer on your smartphone.
