Thanks for fixing! App no longer crashes! Updated review: still love the app, there are some improvements that can be made with the pairing but the recipe collections are amazing - I can find whatever I need to sous vide right in this app. So excited about the steak recipes from Serious Eats! Also super happy with the excellent salmon recipes from Chef Ming - this is our go to app for everyday dinner meals, love love love!

Still a clunky app

It works. I can read and adjust the temperature. I can see the timer and set the timer. It seems to have other uses but it does what I need it to do. I live in a 1400ft home so my BT stays in range.

The new app version works perfectly and the recipe database is quite nice. It would be cool to have better support for iPad, however the iPhone version works with iPad, too. It just does not look as nice as a native iPad one.

While the Anova Culinary Precision Cooker works quite well I have some concerns with the App/Bluetooth setup. The devs have chosen to make it easy to pair the app and the device, but that leaves it open to anyone. So, if I leave my apartment anyone could “hijack” my Anova and ruin my dinner. There doesn’t seem to be a way to completely turn off the bluetooth and prevent other devices from pairing with it. No bueno!

Seems to poll the device a lot causing phone battery drain. Please fix battery usage.

This app works and then it doesnt. Sometimes on iPhone, other times in iPad. And it should as both are connected to home wifii.

Horrible app, can’t believe I fell for the marketing campaign that because this cooker had an app, it would be so much easier. First of all, the app only works half the time. Don’t trust that it will start the timer when the temp is reached because sometimes it does and other times it doesn’t. As far as having a good comprehensive temp guide… forget it. How hard is it to put more basic items in there with the correct time and temp? Anova took our money and is not supporting or updating this product!

The Bluetooth pairing with the circulating heater works... but whats the purpose of it? The app cant put the food in or take it out. You need to be physically there to do that. And as long you have to physically there, why not use the controls on the circulator itself? Temperature up, temperature down, start, stop... its not so complex that I need an app. Maybe it would be nice if youre waiting for your bath to come up to temperature, but its Bluetooth, so the range is very limited, twenty to fifty feet (if youre lucky) so you cant venture farther away than you can hear the circulator own alarm beep that sounds when the bath reaches temperature. It seems to me that this is just connectivity and Bluetooth for the sake of being able to say that you have it, not for any real purpose or benefit. Oh well. The recipe database is nice... a bit shallow, but I have hopes that Anova will grow it over time. The recipes are well-written and easy-to-follow and most dont call do unobtainable ingredients. What is really shallow, unfortunately, is the time/temperature guide. But, again, I have hopes that it Anova will expand it. So, the app is nice for what it is and I hope it will expand in the future.

The recipe and temp guides are handy. However, sometimes the timer starts, sometimes it doesnt. If you leave Bluetooth range while youre cooking, it will drain your battery. Too flaky to be reliable.

I love the anova sous vide cooker itself, but the app is not great, due to poor interface design. Once you have learned the weird way the app designers want you to use it, it functions just fine, but expect to ruin a few things along the way.

Cant store my own recipes and doesnt connect to my machine. Basically useless.

I just purchased the Anova Precision Cooker with wi-fi. I have the other Anova app that allows me just to control the cooker via wi-fi but it would be nice if this app could do that as well.

The interface is awful and poorly organized and the remote timer frequently fails to activate when the water bath reaches the set temperature. Good sous vide machine; bad app(s).

The recipe section is fine, but nothing I couldnt really get from the the web (but +1 star anyways, even though its the lowest) My real issue is that this app is suppose to control the circulator to do "useful" things. Other than an alert that the unit has gotten to temperature, it fails this task. The most important feature they could add is timer to START the heating of the water bath, or better yet, a timer to say when you want the bath to temperature. These things take a while to get the water heated, which is expected, but because of this, I rarely can ever use this for weekday breakfast. The idea of a timer to turn off the unit is crazy. Id much rather risk the food be slightly more denatured than have it drift (slowly) into becoming a bacterial incubator. Thus, this is absolutely worthless and dangerous. Edit: if a developer API were available, useful things could be created (hint hint)

Interface is smooth and pairs easily. Downsides are the recipe videos do not work, setting a different temp after viewing recipes is ineffective. Limited recipe collection.

I just got the Anova sous vide machine so I have only used the app 5 times. The recipes are convenient, and they all have worked well so far. There could be a few more recipes for vegetables etc. My problem with the app is 3/5 times I have used it the timer just does not start. One time it never told me it was to the set temp. The other two times it did, but the timer still did not start.

I bought this because of the Bluetooth feature. The app connects- in the kitchen. But step out of the room 20 feet and it is disconnected. Very underwhelming. May send it back unless the pork chops are glorious.

This app is horrible designed. Sure you can adjust the temp and timer and it alerts you when water is ready but after foods done it automatically tells you "will keep food warm". It doesnt. It shuts heating element off. Than beeps forever without you having a way to silence it. Seriously Anova? You lied to us about having a wifi app already to. I bought the wifi version device to find out there wasnt a real app ready to use yet. Its in the testing stages. And Anova tech support is horrible. Id like my money back please.
